This course offers an in-depth introduction to perinatal and parental mental health to child and family serving professionals. The course provides an overview of the perinatal period and an in depth look at perinatal mental health diagnoses. Symptoms, onset, prevalence, risk factors and screenings for each diagnosis are included. Intervention strategies for perinatal mental health diagnoses are covered as well.
This course does not intend to diagnose or prescribe treatment for mental health conditions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants should be able to:
- define the perinatal period
- possess a broad understanding of perinatal mental health diagnoses including symptoms, onset, prevalence, risk factors and screenings for each diagnosis
- list multiple interventions to support perinatal mental health diagnoses
