Communication is the transfer of information from one person to another. It is a skill that involves both verbal and nonverbal forms. Understanding that behaviors are the language of dementia, then interpreting the behaviors as a form of communication is vital. This course discusses how to effectively communicate with a person with dementia. It also discusses what can trigger challenging behaviors and how to prevent the frustration that can lead to these behaviors.
This is not an accredited course for professional license renewal. Florida CNAs may use this inservice toward meeting their annual inservice requirement.

Kathleen is a seasoned subject matter expert in post-acute care, with over 37 years of clinical and teaching experience spanning both acute and post-acute care settings.
