Learning Objectives:
Articulate the supervision standards for physical therapist assistants and aides in the state of Georgia.
Interpret the supervision standards for individuals practicing under a “Training Permit” in Georgia.
Recall requirements for continuing competency for both PT and PTA providers.
Recall the rules related to performance of “dry needling” by PTs in the state of Georgia as outlined in Rule 490-9-.05.
Identify three changes in the professional, reimbursement, or legal landscapes that affect PTs and PTAs.
Articulate two distinctions between morals, ethics, and the law as related to the physical therapy profession.
Recall at least three types of advance directives and briefly explain how each is designed to reduce moral, ethical, and legal dilemmas.
Define at least two main theories and principles of healthcare ethics, as described in the course.
Recognize two methods PT professionals employ to help resolve ethical situations.
Apply elements of the American Physical Therapy Associations Core Ethical documents to two case studies to resolve mock ethical dilemmas.
Identify at least five activities which are considered violations of the Georgia PT and/or PTA Code of Ethics.

Instructor: Yolunda G. Dockett, OTD, MOTR, CHC, CHPC

Yolunda Dockett serves as a Corporate Compliance & Privacy Officer for a skilled nursing, assisted living, dialysis, and personal care provider in the DC Metro area. In this role, Yolunda has developed and implemented the organization's compliance and privacy program, and has provided compliance education and training, promoting regulatory compliance to ensure continued program effectiveness. Yolunda is working on her Masters of Jurisprudence at Stetson University College of Law and is a registered occupational therapist with over 15 years of experience in regional rehab, reimbursement, and SNF operations. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member for several masters and doctorate occupational therapy programs in the region, and is a member of the roster of accreditation evaluators for the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

Target Audience:
The target audience for this course is: Advanced, Entry, Intermediate level Physical Therapists; in the following settings: All Healthcare Settings, Rehabilitation Settings.
