Part three of this course describes how Alzheimer’s disease affects a person’s communication skills. It also identifies strategies for communicating verbally and non-verbally to help maintain the person’s quality of life.

Part four of this course discusses how to effectively communicate with a person with dementia. It also discusses what can trigger challenging behaviors and how to prevent the frustration that can lead to these behaviors.

Part five of this course discusses the precautions and interventions to follow to prevent a resident from eloping. It also discusses the process for how to respond if a resident elopes.
