Amanda Gayle received her PhD. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee. She completed a pre-doctoral internship at the University of Georgia in the Counseling and Testing Center. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in the Occupational Health Department working in both the internal and external employee assistance programs. She is licensed in North Carolina, where she was in private practice for 15 years, serving primarily adults in individual and couples counseling with many presenting issues. Her focus was on cognitive behavioral therapy to treat anxiety, mood disorders, grief, relationship difficulties, stress management, self-esteem, and parenting. She joined Relias as a subject matter expert writer for behavioral health in 2021.

Dr Oluwole Jegede is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and medical director of Acute Services Division at Connecticut Mental Health Center, New Haven, Connecticut. He is triple board-certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Jegede completed his psychiatry residency at One Brooklyn Health Psychiatry Residency program, New York where he was program wide Chief Resident and his Addiction Psychiatry fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, where he was also REACH and NIDA diversity scholar. Dr. Jegede’s interest is in addiction science with a focus on health disparities and mental health outcomes research, particularly in underserved populations. His work explores how structural vulnerabilities—such as racial, socio-economic, and systemic inequalities—affect access to quality mental health and addiction care. His research examines complex interactions between substance use disorders and psychiatric care, in populations that experience higher rates of health disparities and how healthcare systems can address the unique needs of these populations by developing tailored, accessible, and culturally sensitive approaches to evidence-based addiction treatments.
