Primary Progressive Aphasia: SLP Diagnosis and Intervention

Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is a relatively rare speech-language disorder caused by neurodegenerative disease. Speech-language treatment is an important part of management of individuals with PPA to help them communicate as long as possible and improve the quality of their lives. After taking this course, speech-language pathologists will be able to identify the three clinical variants of PPA (semantic, logopenic, and nonfluent/agrammatic), select appropriate tests and measures to identify key impairments, and develop an evidence-based treatment approach based on their findings.
