Protective Intervention- Understanding Client's Behavior

The goal of this course is to train staff in protective measures to insure best practice when building safe relationships with those we serve in home, community, or residential settings. An important goal is to do this while reducing or preventing the use of restraints, seclusion, or isolation time out. You are the key to achieving these goals. It is important that everyone caring for, treating, and supporting people with health needs, knows how to communicate in a way that fosters positive relationships, treat others with respect, and handle themselves appropriately in stressful situations. Over the course of your work with people, you will be asked to wear many hats, –such as teacher, counselor, coach, nurse, sounding board, and role model. This course will assist you in developing the attitudes and skills needed to provide quality care.
