Roles and Expectations for SLPs in Acute Settings

The acute care setting provides many opportunities for speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to provide effective interventions to adult patients in need. This setting also has specific demands that SLPs new to the setting must be prepared to meet. Everything from higher levels of patient acuity to working closely with an interdisciplinary team to the ever-changing environment of the acute space will impact the evaluation and treatment of patients. This course is designed to introduce SLPs new to acute care to the roles and expectations of practice in this setting.
