Instructor: Angela Chavez NCC, LPC, LCSW
Angela Chavez has worked as a trauma therapist for over 12 years serving populations such as adolescents, adults, veterans, and military families. Ms. Chavez currently serves as the Military Program Manager of an inpatient treatment center serving active-duty personnel struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Prior to serving as the Program Manager, Ms. Chavez held the position of lead trauma therapist and facilitated advanced trauma and psychoeducational groups. Ms. Chavez currently manages all the inpatient military programing and provides oversight, supervision, leadership and mentorship to a staff of over 13 full-time and part-time Master's level therapists. In addition to these duties Ms. Chavez is a certified Prolonged Exposure therapist and continues to manage a caseload of patient's diagnosed with PTSD. Ms. Chavez has been instrumental in the development and implementation of specialized and diagnosis specific programing tracks and insurance of the fidelity of curriculum and treatment within the program.
Ms. Chavez has a Master of Counseling from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas San Antonio. She has been credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 14 years and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for 2-½ years. Prior to her position at Laurel Ridge Treatment center Ms. Chavez worked with active-duty service members at Lackland AFB treating PTSD, depression, and trauma. Ms. Chavez is certified as a Prolonged Exposure Therapist through the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, and has advanced training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
