Course Description

The Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) has a legal and ethical responsibility to safeguard the rights of individuals receiving services within its facilities and programs.  Any incident that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of a person being served in an ADMH state facility or community programs that are under contract with or certified by ADMH, shall be reported and investigated in a timely manner. This course assists individuals who conduct serious incident investigations with developing an investigative report. 

It is recommended that learners taking this course should be trained in how to conduct a well-executed investigation that works towards answering the investigatory question. Along with this course on report writing, training on the investigation process (that leads to the investigative report) is available through the Alabama Department of Mental Health website at https://mh.alabama.gov.
